Announcement: Minato City Special Public Lecture “Support for foreigners in the Great East Japan Earthquake”

We received an announcement on a special public lecture of Minato city international disaster prevention volunteer training as below

Having Mr. Akiyoshi Kikuchi, Multicultural society coordinator of Sendai Tourism, Convention and International Association, as a lecturer, a lecture titled “Support for foreigners in the Great East Japan Earthquake” will be held and it will be open to anyone who are interested in the support for foreigners.

Date: Monday, September 4, 2017 19:00-21:00 (open at 18:30)
Venue: Libra Hall (Minato Park Shibaura 1st Floor, 1-16-1 Shibaura, Minato-ku)
Participants: Anyone with an interest in supporting foreigners
Application: No application required. Please come directly to the hall.
Contents: A lecture will be on the experiences of providing support for foreign victims in the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 and the measures taken since then. The lecturer, Mr. Akiyoshi Kikuchi, was in charge of operating and arranging volunteer coordination at ‘Sendai Disaster Multilingual Support Center’ which was set up by Sendai city. The latter half of the lecture will be on Minato city’s disaster-prevention measures and procedures at the time of disaster, and it will be given by the Disaster Prevention department of Minato city. This lecture is supposed to be done for the Minato city’s international disaster prevention volunteers, but as this month is Disaster Prevention Month, it will be specially opened to public.
