We received an announcement about the workshop hosted by Kanagawa Plaza for Global Citizenship （Earth Plaza) as below.
＊ ＊ ＊
In 2015, a severe rainstorm hit the northern part of Kanto region and Tohoku region. Many people in Joso city, Ibaraki-ken, suffered from a flood after the Kinugawa River broke through a flood berm. In that situation, many of foreign residents also faced a difficult situation because of the differences in language and culture, and a lack of information due to the lack of knowledge. We will have Mr. Yokota, the Head director of authorized NPO Ibaraki NPO Center・Commons, as a lecturer who engaged in supportive activities at the time of the disaster even he was also a disaster victim. We will listen to the situation at the time, like what kinds of supportive activities were done, the issues they learned from that experience, and the efforts they are taking for the future. In the latter half of the session, we would like to hear about what we can do to prepare against disaster, also from the aspect of community planning, to realize a society where all Japanese and non-Japanese people can live feeling reassured. We would be very happy if you could come along on this Sunday and join us.
